1. Definition

  A specialty RF cable is a type of cable designed for highfrequency signal transmission, tailored for specific environmental or performance requirements—such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, radiation resistance, high flexibility, or low loss. It maintains stable RF performance under extreme conditions. Compared with standard coaxial RF cables, specialty RF cables use more specialized materials, structural designs, and electrical characteristics.

2. Materials

  The materials of specialty RF cables are diverse and typically include:

  1. Inner Conductor

  Highpurity copper, silverplated copper, goldplated copper, or copperclad aluminum to ensure low resistance and high conductivity.

  Can be solid or stranded depending on application requirements.

  2. Dielectric Insulator

  PTFE (Teflon), foamed PTFE, hightemperature polyolefins, or special lowloss materials.

  Controls characteristic impedance and ensures highfrequency signal quality.

  3. Outer Conductor / Shield

  Braided mesh, metal foil, copper tubing, or aluminum tubing; sometimes multilayered shielding is used for enhanced electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection.

  4. Outer Jacket

  PVC, polyethylene (PE), fluoropolymers (FEP, PTFE), silicone rubber, or special materials resistant to high temperature, chemical corrosion, or UV.

  Provides flexibility, wear resistance, waterproofing, or radiation resistance.
