1. Incoming Material Inspection (IQC)
Inspect FAKRA housings, inner pins, outer terminals
Verify coaxial cable diameter, impedance (50 Ω), and material specifications
Randomly test attenuation, shielding density, and other RF parameters
2. Cable Cutting
Using an automatic coaxial cutting & stripping machine to perform:
Precise length cutting
Multilayer stripping: outer jacket, braided shield, dielectric, and center conductor
Maintain stripping tolerance at ±0.2 mm
3. Shield Preparation
Depending on the design:
Fold back the braided shield
Twist or trim the shield for clean termination
Ensure proper length for smooth terminal crimping
4. Inner Conductor Crimping
With dedicated FAKRA crimp tooling:
Crimp the center pin
Control crimp height and width
Perform pullforce testing (typically ≥20 N)
5. Outer Ferrule Crimping
Position the outer metal ferrule
Use hexcrimp tooling for the RF shield connection
Ensure automotivegrade tensile strength and antipull performance
6. Soldering (If Required)
Some FAKRA structures require:
Center pin soldering
Shield reinforcement soldering
Use leadfree solder; joints must be smooth and fully wetted
7. FAKRA Housing Assembly
Insert the terminated cable into the FAKRA plastic housing
Ensure the lock clicks into place
Keyed design prevents incorrect mating
8. PullForce Testing
Individually test:
Center contact pull strength
Outer shield pull strength
Must meet process specifications
9. Visual Inspection / AOI (Optional)
Verify:
Proper assembly and full seating
Correct color coding and key code
No exposed conductors or abnormal stripping length
10. Electrical Continuity Test
Performed with dedicated FAKRA fixtures:
Center conductor → center conductor continuity
Shield → shield continuity
Detect opens, shorts, or impedance abnormalities
11. RF Performance Test (Return Loss / VSWR)
Critical for FAKRA products:
Measure return loss
Measure VSWR
Ensure RF performance for GPS, 4G/5G, radar, and other applications
12. Final Assembly & Labeling
Apply heatshrink tubing, labels, and protective sleeves
Bundle and pack according to customer requirements
13. Outgoing Quality Inspection (OQC)
Inspect appearance, dimensions, and RF performance
Maintain traceability with batch records
